Enhacing the efforts for the reintegration and economic empowerment of victims of gender-based violence and their children in Albania

The action

Different & Equal (D&E) is an Albanian nonprofit organization dedicated to providing high quality services for the protection and reintegration of victims of trafficking, exploitation and abuse and to changing the legal, institutional and social context to counter these abuses. The beneficiaries D&E organization supports are from all over Albania. Through this project Different & Equal will provide reintegration services and economic empowerment for victims of gender-based violence including victims of trafficking, victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse and their children in Albania.

Besides identification and immediate protection, GBV survivors need support to recover their lives and on-going support to reintegrate into society and for a sustainable reintegration of GBV survivors there is a need to enhance their economic empowerment and increasing their skills through education, professional trainings and employment. The organization Different & Equal provides services 24 hours in 7 days of the week and addresses different needs of the victims like needs for accommodation in a safe place, health needs, psychological, needs for education, increasing life skills, and those for social and economic empowerment. At least 50 survivors of gender-based violence and their children will be assisted with reintegration services based on their needs. The services provided will be comprehensive and will include: accommodation and housing; psycho-social counselling and medical assistance; support and legal assistance; assistance to register and attend schooling or professional training; counseling and support for employment; assistance and support for the children of the victims of violence and trafficking including medical, legal, education, and psychological support, and also afterschool care.
